RAILS-WITH-TRAIL
18 miles of rails-with-trail through rugged, pristine country along Buffalo Creek near the town of Clay to the coal mining town of Widen, made famous by the Widen Mine Wars. Crystal-clear Buffalo Creek is stocked with trout and is a popular angler’s pilgrimage. One of the mandatory stops on this section is the magnificent Devil’s Sawmill Falls flowing into Buffalo Creek.

ELK RIVER RAILS-WITH-TRAIL
Rail Explorers USA has entered into contracts to operate a rail-biking business on the rails-with-trails section and anticipate opening for business in May 2024. The trail alongside (and sometimes between) the rails is not improved.
