Owned by WV Division of Highways. Mary L. Chilton (Spread) Park is a walk-in access with picnic shelters and a small playground. A perfect end of the day takeout from Ivydale!

Directions From I-79
From North: From I-79 exit 40 (Big Otter)(12.6 mi.): Turn left (south) on WV-16 S. Continue for 7.5 miles to Rt 4S. Turn left on to Rt 4/. Boat launch will be on the left in 6.4 miles. From South: From I-79 exit 34 (Wallback/Clay)(14.5 mi.): Turn right (south) on WV-36 S. Continue for 7.1 miles to WV-4 N. Turn left onto WV-4 N and continue for 2.5 miles and bear slight left on WV-16 N/WV-4 N/Main St. Continue to follow WV-16 N/WV-4 N 4.8 miles. Boat launch will be on the right at the park.
Accessibility
Dirt, carry-down access. River access is a long distance from Rt. 4 but the grade and surface to the river’s edge is easy walking. The access is in shoals that require portage and a short distance downstream are shoals that may require the same. However, floating becomes much easier beyond that. Unrestricted hours. Not handicapped accessible.
